upgrading XP Home to XP Pro

    My brother bought a new Acer Aspire at Frey's with XP Home on it. He has a 10 license XP Pro Upgrade CD and wanted to upgrade the Acer so his wife could use it to access their server.
    He booted up the XP Home and then inserted the XP Pro CD to start the upgrade but he continues to receive a message " The Home edition is newer than the one trying to be installed." Is this something that can not be done?

    Pete,
    Just visited with my brother and he was able to slipstream the SP3 to the XP Pro and then it installed OK updating the XP Home to XP Pro. Iwas quite an ordeal he said but all went well. Thanks again.

    So did your brother have to do a clean install or did Pro upgrade over the Home Edition?

    He installed his XP PRO upgrade after slipstreaming it over the XP Home. Following the instruction in the link that Pete provided.
