Does Win 98 have to be installed before the Win 98 upgrade can be installed?

If you are talking about going from Win 98 First Edition to Second Edition, then the answer is YES.

    wb127,

First of all, welcome to the board! Do you have the full or upgrade version of 98? The upgrade CD will only upgrade Win 95, it's not an upgrade to an existing 98 system. With either CD, you can do a clean install of 98. All you need is a disk that has your Win 95 on it so that 98 can verify previous ownership.

Unless you have data that can not be transferred or reinstalled, a clean install of 98 will be the best way to go. Hopefully, that answers your question. If not, post back.

    Mike

note: I'm assuming that you want to go from Win95 to Win98.
