I am still using Office 2002 Pro with Win 7 Pro. I am thinking of upgrading to Win 10. Is there a version of Office I can upgrade to that will retain my existing documents, macros etc.

You sure it is Office 2002? Could it be Office 2003?

It does not really matter. I started with Office 97, upgraded to Office XP, then 2003, then Office 2007. I stuck with Office 2007 for many years, even after I migrated my systems to Windows 10. With each upgrade, the newer version of Office was able to read in all my Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and Outlook emails, contacts, rules, etc. But once pulled in, it converts those documents to new formats (Word docs become .docx files instead of .doc) for example.

Because I liked Office 2007 and Windows 10 supported it, I did not upgrade to Office 2010 or Office 2013.

But then, this last Oct 10, 2017, extended support for Office 2007 products ended (it ended for Office 2003 in 2014!) so I decided to upgrade to Office Home and Business 2016. I got that version because it includes Outlook 2016.

I was happy to see everything carried over into the new version just fine there too.

HOWEVER, your macros may be a different issue. Some may not carry over to any newer version of Office. See this to prepare in advance: Missing macros in Word 2016

And for sure, you should go to Office 2016 to get the latest and the version that will be supported for the longest. There will be a bit of a learning curve, especially coming from that far back. But it did not take me that long from Office 2007.

That said, if you can wait just a little bit longer, Office 2019 will be coming out in the second half of 2018. It is designed specifically for (and will only run on) Windows 10.

I use Office 2003 on 2 different computers with Win 10 and have no problems. There are no more updates for it is the only thing. I don't use it that much and anything that I need to do in it works just fine.

Thanks for your reply. Yes definitely Office 2002. My macros are important. I use them to print my Christmas Card labels from an Access database and carious other bits and pieces. Guess I'll stay with Win 7. Thanks again.

Thanks, but all the research I've done says Office 2002 will not run on win 10. Sad.

This is odd. I have never heard of Office 2002 and I can find nothing showing there ever was an Office 2002 that was ever released to the public. And by that, I mean "Microsoft Office 2002 for Windows".

There was, however, a WordPerfect Office 2002. Is that what you meant? If so, that is definitely not a Microsoft product.

Just checked, the individual components of Office are 2002 but I think Office itself is Office XP.

I believe that Office 2002 is an alias for Office XP! In the Wikipedia article Microsoft Office XP under "editions", versions "2002" are listed.

I had seen a couple of post about Office 2003 not working with Win 10. Seen some said it did. I installed it and it works just like it should. When in doubt, try it out.
