I have a pc that needs to be completely wiped cleaned and re-install with new upgraded Win 2000. What is the best method to accomplish without taking the hard drive to a professional? Is there a method to wipe the disk clean and re-install the new upgrade?

Thanks for directing me to the page, but I'd like to really clean the drive and start all over. My problem is knowing how to do this and still be able to install 2000.

Elaine? It does tell you how to do that........using the Cd to boot from and choosing clean install.

You should check in the BIOS that the boot order is set CD-ROM > Floppy > HD

    OK Gang,

Thanks much for all the suggestions and I'm sure they will work, but now things have changed. This PC will only be used for the net so I need to remove Win 95 and install Win 98 in order to accomodate Earthlink.

Can I do this with ease or do I have to buy something?

    Thanks and ya'll are great!

Before you format the drive, go get WinDriversBackup, free. It will extract your hardware drivers if you do not have them on a disk.
