    Hi Zeth,

The FAQs at the Emachines website points to your motherboard being an Anaheim 2, 2A or 3. It says that a 2 or 2A model will autodetect a PCI video card without having to set any jumpers (nothing stated about a 3 model).

Here is the "unofficial" support site:
    http://www.e4allinc.info/
and is the best place to get any information on those PCs (go to the links on each side of the page).

My suggestion to change the graphics:
Before putting the new video card in, run the card's installation program. It may ask you to reboot, shutdown instead. Put the video card in and connect the monitor to it. On startup, tap the F8 key when you hear the POST beep, go into Safe Mode. Look in Add/Remove programs and Device Manager and remove anything related to the old video. Reboot. If Windows wants you to direct it to drivers, there should be folder on the video card's CD for your version of Windows, or look in the "list" of all hardware for your model.

A PCI video card should be Plug and Play compatible and easy to install, but if you should find a problem with drivers, go to Safe Mode and change the video adapter to a "standard" model (in Control Panel > Display > Settings tab), then rerun the installation program in normal Windows.

I had the exact same machine, and it was real easy to upgrade to my new video card. i installed the drivers, shut down, plugged it in, booted up, and everything was fine. Thats usually how it is with video cards. I gave the mobo/processor to a freind, and used the Emachines case as a basis for a custom case. Bondo, primer, and spraypaint...looks pretty sweet now. no more fat E on the side either...
