    Dear Sirs,
Thank God you guys are still around, did you ever find who it was that ******* up your servers and stuff?
I just ugraded to XP from ME. Go ahead laugh! Now that that is out of the way. I want to shut down the sound to my 3ComUSRobotics 5610A PCI Modem. In Windows ME I could do it. It seems in XP that it is hidden somewhere. I moved the slider in the Modem properties box all the way to the left (OFF) and can still here it as loud as ever. The noise irritates my mom who sleeps in the next room. Any help is surely appreciated.
This is the first in a long list of things I need help with since switching over.
Can I get rid of my Creative labs Dxr-3 card now that I have XP.
I have ASUS A7V Motherboard with 1.333Ghz CPU, any more information I can give just ask.

    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the Forum!

    Hi gerald,

In Windows 98SE the Modem sound is turned off in System Properties|Device Manager|Modem|USR|Connection|Extra Settings
I would think it would be similar for Windows XP:

Enter M0 (that is a zero)
This works for my USR Modem

Some other settings I've seen are:
AT M0 (also zero on both settings)
M0 L0 (also zero on both settings)

    Ramona :D
