    What is the safest way to upgrade a working motherboard and cpu? Windows XP Pro OS.

    I would also make sure that if you have any add on cards, that they will work/fit in the new MOBO.

    It is important to note that OEM/System Builders licenses for Windows can NOT legally be transferred to another computer! Also, because the motherboard is considered the heart of the computer, an "upgraded" motherboard is considered a new computer. Therefore, if this older computer you are upgrading has an OEM license that came with it, or was purchased for it, you MUST purchase a new license, or use one of the free Linux alternatives.

    Please, don't anyone come back at me on this - I am only the messenger. It is in your EULAs! OEM/System Builders licenses are for "original equipment" only.
