I was running Firefox 5.0, Thunderbird 3.1.16. When I checked for updates it installed FF 9.0.1. However it only updated Thunderbird to 3.0.17.
When I check TB for an update now, it says that no updates are available.

Why will it not offer me the current release of Thunderbird?
What do I have to do to get the current release of Thunderbird installed?
Do I really need to install the current release of Thunderbird?

OK, I found that 3.1.17 is a current release for Thunderbird. So is release 9.0.
Please consider this question resolved. Thanks

To be exact, Firefox continued updating the 3.6.x group, and, also developing up to v.9.x. I believe that there is v.11.x at the alpha stage, but I don't care. I have been carrying on my computer both 3.6.x and 9.x, but if you check Help|Check for Updates of 3.6.25, it tells me that there is a new version available, and that it is 9.0.1. It should do the same for Thunderbird, although I have not kept the earlier version. Regardless, both the earlier 3.6.x/3.1.x (Firefox/Thunderbird) and 9.x/9.x are up-to-date.
