I urgently need to update my BIOS it is scaring me to death [maybe the death of my computer without help!]

I have downloaded the update for the BIOS but have no specific instructions how too.
I do need step by step instructions to follow please.
Computer Medion Titanium MD 8080 XL Entertainment Centre.

    Thank's in advance

I don't mean to be nosy but why do you need to update your bios? If you're sure it's necessary, go to the manufacturers site for your computer and download any bios update offered and recommended. You need to look around there also for instructions. If none are offered, I would recommend doing nothing further unless you have a specific problem.

With a specific problem to address, you may need to go to the bios manufacturers site for more guidance. There are also site by companies that do nothing but sell bios updates. A Google search will turn them up.

Any directions you may need will no doubt come with the package wherever you get it. Often it's a simple as copying the bios update download to a floppy and booting to it. The update should then do its work without your help. Other times the download will be a self executing file that you must run to create the boot floppy.

Do be careful and certain you are applying the correct bios version. Most updates are rather fool proof but I have heard horror stories of updates gone awry and folks losing access to their system.

Perhaps if you tell us what type of file you downloaded it would help. Is it a zip file or an exe file or some other extension?

    Further:

If you downloaded the bios update from the Medion site, you can also click on "Details" for that download and get the following:

    How's that? :)

Well first I want to say many thanks for all the effort you have put into my problem surferdude 2.
I have printed all your 3 finds and as you can imagine I am now even more
As a SENIOR [who just loves this computing lark] I have done many many things including all the optional updates [after reading about them] and have all been successful.Even manually updating my programs software but I think that this task is beyond me!
The first thing I am going to do is back up all my photos of our journeys around the world [including ILLINOIS I have 18 GB of them!]
Then I think I might on a day I feel daring attempt the task [if it fails then it is a new computer?
    Thank you
    Karles

ps- the file is biomd 8080.exe
