Updating I.E. is SP1 stand alone?

I have an old computer I am trying to put on a local wireless network. The IE installed is 5.0 or so. The wireless adapter requires at least 5.5. to install. I have been trying to find an IE I can seperatly download on another machine, load on a CD and install on the machine I need to upgrade. I have not been able to find a site to download IE6 just 6SP1. Is this a full install or must 6.0 be installed first? If 5.5 or 6 must be separatly installed first can you advise me where I can download a full install I can burn to a CD? Thanks

Yes, a full install, don't need a prior version for this.

robwhite--If the old PC will take it, I would certainly recommend IE6. It has several security advantages compared to IE5.5 and you can also get Updates for it from Windows Updates. I would suggest you go to Windows Updates right after installing IE6, assuming you can install IE6.
