I tried to download the SP2 update from the website several months ago and had lots of problems. I eventually (through help within this site) had to "uninstall" it.

I now have the CD for the SP2 and am going to try to run it this next week.

I see many references as to "updating drivers" prior to running the software. Do I need to contact all manufacturers of the drivers that show up in the "devices" on My Computer? Is there an automatic way to do this? Perhaps there are just a few of them that I need to check on??

FYI... the computer I have is about 3 yrs old and had XP installed when purchased. I don't know if this indicates that it's likely in need of many driver updates or not.

    Some comments will be appeciated.

    Thanks.

Generally a good idea to use the latest drivers - always the odd exception but these are usually system specific.

IMO not necessary to update drivers prior to installing SP 2, but if you want to go down that route the ones to look for are ....

    Video card
    Peripherals like printers and scanners.
    Modems
    Ethernet cards

Go to the manufacturers web site - decline drivers offered through Windows update.
