Only 3 of my XP updates and 15 office related updates are being displayed in the Currently Installed Programs and Updates list. It used to be much more.

Whereas the Belarc Advisor currently shows a total of around 130 updates and says that the Microsoft Security updates are up to date.

Does anyone know why there is such a big difference between the Currently Installed Programs and Updates list and the Belarc Advisor?

    THANKS

    Check .....

In Add/Remove Programs the Show Updates box at the top of the window is checked.

Only those updates/patches that can be uninstalled are shown.

The top of the window box is checked; but only a few of of the updates are showing unlike the Belarc Advisor which shows them all.

Have you installed SP3? That removes most (almost all) updates to XP from the list. I don't know how Belarc handles SP3.

Did you delete the update folders underneath the Windows folder? If so, that would explain why Add/Remove doesn't show em...They are no longer available to be uninstalled.

Belarc Advisor is probably pulling from the entries in the registry.

Are they showing in C:\Windows? - enable Show hidden files & folders? If the drive is NTFS they will most likely be shown in blue (default) as they are compressed files.

Only 5 blue blue files are showing and if the cursor hovers over them they are shown as empty

If you go to Microsoft update or Windows Update + Office Update are you offered anything?
