Updates not happening

    Hello to all. This is my first posting as i have usually found answers to problems in the past, by searching the forums, which i would like to thank everyone for.

    Right, the problem i have is, auto update isn't working and manual updating takes me to a screen that reads thus:

    "Thank you for your interest in obtaining updates from our site.

    This website is designed to work with Microsoft Windows operating systems only.
    To find updates for Microsoft products that are designed for Macintosh operating systems, please visit http://www.microsoft.com/mac/. "

    This is the first time i have ever encountered this problem, and my XP system certainly hasn't turned into a Mac!

    Is this a Microsoft problem or is it my computer? :confused:

    william tell - Welcome to the Board :)

    The problem is that your computer is sending incorrect information to the Windows Update Server. The resolution is to edit the Registry as outlined in this article .....

    Windows Update page says "Thank you for your interest in obtaining updates from our site. "

    If you have not edited the Registry before take great care and double check what you are doing before clicking :) In particular backup (export) the registry strings noted before deleting. See Method 2 here
