A friend of mine is preparing to install Windows XP.
The WinXP CD was bought a while ago and doesn´t include SP1.
The computer is connected to the internet via a slow dial-up connection.

I however, am connected via high speed cable connection so, I´ve voluntered to help him download the updates and burn them to a CD.
I´m planning on using this download site:

    http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp?corporate=true

    I haven´t found any release dates for the updates so, a few questions;

have all separate updates that are included in SP1 been removed from the download site?

how can I tell which updates are needed apart from SP1?

will I have to download everything else as well, with the exception of different language versions?

    Thanks for Your time!

    My advice

Get the big ones one only!

    Get SP1 and IE6 Update.

Disconnect all external HW like printers usb network etc.

Install Xp get it up clean. Install no apps no firewalls no virus scanners.

Only XP then Sp1 then IE6 update sp.

Setup internet get the rest of the small ones by modem. This way you do not need to try and figure if they overlap.

    Then firewalls scanners etc.

    Thanks all, for Your replies!

WinXP SP1 is said to include IE6 SP1 so, if I download the cumulative patch for IE6, suggested by Jim, I think the rest can be done fairly quickly on a modem.
