    Hello,

How many security updates, hotfixes, etc. do I really need. I have updates for Access (don't use it), Word, Excel, Powerpoint (don't use it), Publisher (don't use it), and Outlook (don't use it). Do I really need these?

How far back should security updates and hotfixes be kept anyhow? I'm trying to free up some space for no particular reason and I just thought I'd ask.

Hope someone can help ----- Thanks a bunch!!

You need all the critical updates for Windows and Office to maintain the integrity and security of your system.

If you don't use the components of Office you posted uninstall them through Add/Remove Programs - I assume you have the install CD's.
I guess you are referring to the uninstall files at C:\Windows (with Show hidden files & folders) - if you are sure that you do not want to uninstall any of the updates these files can be deleted, although you will only free up 2-300 Mb. More to be gained by uninstalling the Office components you do not use.

Thanks a bunch Pete C, I feel better about uninstalling things.

By the way do you know anything about the post below. I've asked everywhere and no one has been able to answer me.

    Edit by Mod - http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=64698

I have had some computer issues for the past several months. I have had it fixed since and it seems to be running ok. Except that now I'm having problems downloading anything. It begins just fine and then it just hangs there. The little folder shows its tranferring to the other folder but the percentage remains the same for a long period of time and it never finishes downloading. I usually cancel the download, refresh, and run again, it will pickup where it left off. But it takes about 4 or 5 refreshes before its done, depending on the size of the download of course. Is there anything to fix this problem? Thank you!
