I was using version 15 earlier this week and have been having problems with the browser Not Responding and also the hard drive on my laptop seems to run non-stop so I decided to try updating to 20.0.1.

My problems are that the hard drive still constantly runs and now my add-ons sometime work. At the same time, I updated my desktop to the same version because of Not Responding and all seems well there.

WinXP Pro is installed on both computers. I updated the laptop through the browser/Help/check for updates and it was downloaded via wireless connection. The desktop kept getting a separate notice to update to 20 if that makes any difference.

Should I just re-install Firefox on my laptop?

    An additional note:
When I am finished and exit the Firefox browser, the window closes but if I go into the task manager, firefox is not shutting down so I have to end process to shut it down. This happened on the earlier version all the time and now it is still happening with version 20.

Also this morning when I went to start the browser, it reported that scripts were running. I open only to the google search bar on the window when Firefox starts. It does not go to a dedicated web page when starting.

Once again, after starting up my laptop, the hard drive is working its little tooshy off and it is starting to get hot.

Do I seem to have two separate problems occurring here? One with the browser and the other with something in the hard drive that makes it run constantly?

    Thanks for any help
