When the May updates arrived in my computer I was advised that there were 13 updates to be loaded. The first two updated with no problem but during the third (kb3153171) the computer froze and having waited for 30 miniutes I pressed the cancel key, which was apparently ignored - not surprising really.

Having forced a reboot, the first two updated completed their installation and the system opened. Going into the control panel I see that I no longer need any updates. Checking installed updates I see the first two as installed and kb3153171 as cancelled, with no others for the same installation date.

Should I take any remedial action and if so, what? How can I get the system to remove the entry for kb3153171 and start again? Do I need any updates?

Start\Control Panel\Programs and Features. In the left pane click on View installed updates. Then perform a search(in the search box in the top right corner of the window) by typing KB315317 right click on the entry and click uninstall.

Apparently it is not possible to uninstall a program that was cancelled. However, on rebooting a day later I was again offered updates and this time all were installed without problem - including the update that caused the original problem. The list of installed updates still shows the cancelled entry, but above it in the list is the successful entry. :D

... and now I can't find the 'Mark as Solved' button.
