    Hi, kesher. :)

Perhaps your installation executable got corrupted.

Have you tried downloading KB936021 to a folder on your hard drive and executing it from there?

I have tried downloading KB936021 to a folder on the hard drive and executing it from there; but still I get the same result:

    C:\Other Downloads\uPDATES\WindowsXP-kb936021-x86 - ENU.exe is not a valid Win32 application

Although if I try to run the installation without having saved it first the message is slightly different:

    C:\Documents andSettings\Me\LocalSettings\TemporaryInternetFiles\Content.IE5\GPYVKTUN\WindowsXP-kb936021-x86 - ENU.exe[1] is not a valid Win32 application

This error can be caused by any of the below possibilities.
    1. File is corrupt, bad, or missing
    2. File is not designed for your version of Windows
    3. Hardware incompatibility
    4. File is a virus, worm, or other malware file

Delete your temporary internet files, & re-download the file from Microsoft.

Arie, Following your advice I deleted the temporary files folder and this did the trick.

    Thanks
