    dear sir,

when we update a software online, in which folder these updates are installed. is this possible to back up such folders so that in future when we need to reinstall the software, in instance of getting it crashed, we merely restore such folders and need not to go online again to update it.

Most updates, once installed, can't be recycled.

But, Windows updates for example can be downloaded, stored and installed multi times..

    Hello dastgir,

To get and download standalone updates:

In WU in the left panel under Administrator options > under Update multiple operating systems > Windows update Catalog.

MS will scan the system and give a choice of where to look for the updates.

XP Home and Pro + SP1 or SP2.

Usually I find what I'm looking in XP SP2 - I only download criticals unless there is a specific issue with my system, the same KB # criticals are for both home and pro.

You have to know what the KB #'s are - so either come to a site like this or let MS scan the system for the #'s.

    Regards - Charles
