    I must have done something.
And I don't know how to fix it.

This seems to not be a problem, but it bugs me to see it happen.

    Details:

    1. We turn on the computer.
    2. All works well.

However, we do not get the normal desktop.
Instead the folder "System 32' opens showing it's content.

We've never had a desire to view that folder.

    *********************************************

What is the fix to eliminate this from happening a let the normal
    desktop show up ?

    Thanks

The same thing happens to me. It must have to do something with the antivirus because it started to happen after I let the antivirus startup at bootup to get rid of a particular virus. Thanks PeteC.

    Unwanted folder opening still present.

We downloaded and ran the suggested program.

    It returned this message "

"This script cannot repair your issue. The expected Regestry entry was not found. "

So, it seems an entry is there - just not the one the program was looking for.

    Thanks

    Hi jbarker,

    Go into msconfig.

From the Start menu, click on run.
    Type msconfig and ok.

Then in the System Configuration utility, click on the Start tab.

If there is a blank line or any reference to the folder in the Startup Item column, uncheck the line.

Afterwards when you boot up, you'll get a message from the System that you have changed the startups, tick the box on the left to shut the message off.

    Regards - Charles

[SIZE= "2"]A Virus can cause this, did you do a full offline scan? If so continue here.

There are a few other reasons this can happen, I may have to look thru tips one at time and use the process of elimination>
    First, try this>>

Windows has a setting to restore previous folder window at log on. to get rid of this, log on and with the sytem 32 folder window open click on the view tab. scroll down the list and find the setting "restore folder window at log on" and uncheck the box. then click the radio button apply to all folders. then click ok to close out the folder options window. Only if the above dont work try this next >>>

Second, This involves adjusting the registry, but rather than give you instructions for doing it manually (which is to dangerous) for you to try on your own at this time.
I want you to go here and scroll down 3quarters of the way on the right hand side you will see a link to download>>> (system 32 folder opens at boot)<<< that will fix you registry automatically, like it states your antivirus may say it is dangerous to download this file but IGNORE IT and say Yes to the download. this should fix your problem, here is the website>>>
