Whenever I turn the computer on it starts to dial my internet connection. If I let it complete the dial and then disconnect, it will periodically attempt to dial again.

Does some one have an idea how to determine what app is causing the unwanted dial?

I have Win XP set to never dial.

    Help!!!

Start>run and type msconfig. Check startup tab for any software apps. that use internet. Weatherbug is a common one to start a connection, if you have it. Possibly an antivirus program looking to update? Identify and enable/disable startup entries using this list. Some spyware/malware nasties can cause this too. Download, update and run Spybot and Ad-aware. Delete all they find.
