I'm having unusual Connectivity issues in XP. I'll describe my setup, my problem, what I've done and hopefully someone can help:

    Setup:
    Network
2.5 mbit ADSL, linksys ADSLME1 modem
    Linksys BEFSX41 router
Linksys Etherfast LNE100A0 card (recent switch, was using broadcom built in NIC before putting this in to test)

    PC:
    P4 3.0ghz
    windows xp pro SP2
full updated as of today (Feb 17th)
    1 gb dual channel ram
installed PCI cards: ASUS TV-capture card, SB audigy 2 ZS, PCI Express x800GT radeon

Problem: My desktop PC will lose its connection randomly. The actually network connection will not show that the connection is broken (infact it shows 50 minutes of connectivity right now, but I've lost my connection at least 4 times during that period). My instant messengers will reconnect (using trillian pro 3.1) and web pages cannot be accessed. Occasionally I can't even access the router. While this was going on about an hour ago, I used the laptop beside me (Toshiba Tecra A3 running Fedora core 4) to bring up a web page and it worked, indicated to me that this is a problem local to the desktop)

What I've done: Spyware scans (ad-aware, spybot, I use spyware blaster as well). Anti-virus scans (AVG), all come up clean. I've switched out my network card to ensure its not that. I've run windows update. I've checked my background tasks and tweaked my services to clear out any garbage I don't need (using a mirror of Blackvipers Service guide). This problem started before the service tweak.

I've checked the system log and there doesn't seme to be anything giving a clue as to what might be causing this. There are no errors or warnings that correspond with the disconnects. I've checked my router logs to verify that this isn't a network problem, and to see if there is any unusual activity corresponding to these times. There does not appear to be.

At this point: Any thoughts? Any additional information required? Even while writing this I had another issue where I suddenly couldn't access the router in browser, saying it couldn't be reached (yet web pages worked) and my laptop was able to access the router without issue. After about 15 seconds I could do so again on the desktop. Something is definitely not working right for me.

A question that I have would be, Why the two Routers ?

    I have a Linksys BEFSR41 ( 4 port ) Router serving 3 machines and a Printer.

At least it would be if I did not have a 4 port Switch ahead of it because I plan(ed) to add another machine.

What is the difference between the SX41 and the SR41 ?

When I went back and re-read your post more carefully I suspected that a mistake had been made.

Especially when I saw ADSL as part of the model number.

    I have a Linksys BEFCMU10 Modem.

I had a Modem provided by the Cable Company and had problems until I changed the Modem, the Router and my 4 port switch to all the same maker. ( Linksys )

I Recently did that. Before I had a Dlink modem and a Dlink router, but I switched it all out for linksys stuff. Though this was about 2 months ago, with this just being a development today, I don't think that has anything to do with it though.

[edit]I just had this happen again. I grabbed some router log (ALL) from my router when this happened. Nothing unusual. There is a lot of garbage traffic being dropped by my router, but thats a constant thing, this is approximately 1 minute before and after when it cut out:
