Unread messages appear read

In Outlook Express 6, my email messages always appear as "Read" even though I have NOT read them yet. As soon as I open Outlook Express, my emails in my Inbox, including all new ones, appear with the envelope icon as open and the message header is not in bold print. Does anyone know if I perhaps have to change the settings in OE?

 

Take alook at tools, options, the "read" tab. See what the "time" setting is.

 

The Time is set at 7 seconds.

 

Try repairing IE, which will repair OE at the same time, via the control panel, add/remove prog, highlight IE, select add/remove, then repair at the prompt.

 

Just uncheck the time setting. Click Apply, & then click OK. That should do it.
