I have a ATI Microscan Monitor.

I unplugged it and moved the monitor about 2 feet and set it down easy on my printer stand. The cord was tangled so I couldn't move the desk. I unplugged it from the back of the monitor when I did it. I plugged it back in and it didn't go back on. It's like it has no power.

There was no sign of any problems before this, I just unplugged it form the back, plugged it back in. Is there anything to check? I don't see a fuse or anything llike that. Thank you, chris.

P.S. I got my old, small monitor and used it with the power cord, so I know it's not the cord.

I would try another lead anyway, just in case. You dont need to plug the monitor into the computer, just as long as you can see power to the little green light on the front of the monitor.

If this doesnt work, you may have blown the surge fuse. This can happen when you plug a live lead into the unit. It used to be a common fault on old tv's when the tv was turned on at the wall socket instead of using the on/off switch. The surge fuse is a small glass fuse attached to the circuit board inside the case and costs pennies to replace, but the case needs to be dismantled to gain access. It is easy to see if it has blown, the wire inside will be gone.

Needless to say, be very very careful if you take apart a monitor - theres enough juice stored in there to electrocute you even after its been unplugged for quite some time.

Just took a look at the rear of my monitor. In addition to the power cord jack and the video signal cable jack, there is a third, unmarked little trap door. I'm reluctant to open it, but it just may be a power reset button.

Anybody know anything about this? It may be the anwer to his problem.

    Thanks Grunty,
I posted at another bbs to figure out how to get it apart and started of a firestorm. Almost all argued that there is NOT a fuse inside a monitor that can easily be fixed. Just got a call from the shop that it is a fuse. $4. part.
