Every time I open a new browser I get the message "Unknown error occured when loading browser extension." Frequently I get the message "Internet Explorer has stopped working" The feature that says words to the effect we will try and find a solution doesn't work either.I have IE 9.0.8112.16421 Update version 9.0.15 KB2817183 and the KB number seems to be a link and when clicked on IE stopped working message pops up. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium and I have gone to advanced internet options and made sure "disable script debugging(IE)and also (Other)are both checked and "a notification about every script error is unchecked. Finally, I have tried to redownload IE from the Microsoft site but that doesn't help. Any help would be appreciated!!

That is the clue to this issue - maybe :)

Try running IE with no add-ons and see if the issue remains (All Programs > Accessories > System Tools)

If the issue is resolved restart IE in normal mode and go Tools > Manage Add-ons and disable all. Re-enable one at a time, restarting IE each time until the culprit is found.

BTW - you really should be running IE 10 for increased security.

    unknown error update

Hi again Pete--I disabled All addons (there are more than I realized) and have opened & closed numerous browsers and the "error" message is gone. I'm not sure I'll have time tonight to try and enable them one by one to see where the problem child or children may be but as soon as I do I will post the information. In the meantime, thank you very much again!!!!!!!
