According to the latest Rose City Software newsletter link advice to remove Windows Messenger in XP I ran the remove command in the Run line - using copy paste

During the process I received the following message:
    "Advanced INF Install
Error unregistering the OCX 16422 "

Can anyone advise what this means? I am running XP Pro with all of the latest updates from Microsoft.

Will not be running Registry First Aid until I find out more.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Graham Page

If you have XP's Service Pack 1 installed, running the "RunDll32advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection%windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove" command will give that error.

Installing SP1 apparently puts Windows Messenger in the Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs list so you can just uninstall it from there like any other program.
