Uninstalling Visa and Installing XP Pro

    [SIZE= "2"] I purchased a Toshiba Laptop computer that came with VISTA installed. My main software (sign making software) is not compatable and I would like to uninstall VISTA and install XP Pro (I have a legal copy). Can I just format the drive and start from scratch?[/SIZE]

    After checking that you can get XP drivers for your machine pop in the XP cd and let her rip...

    You'll probably want to delete the partition(s) during the XP install and then create new one(s).

    Checking for drivers

    Thank you for your response Steve,
    Can you tell me which drivers and where I can check for them? Can I download them to disk and then reinstall as I'm installing XP?

    You will need to go to the Toshiba website and locate the drivers for your laptop - generally a .exe file and burn the file to CD.

    Load XP and then load the drivers - cannot be done any other way - the generic drivers on the XP install disk will suffice to load the OS.

    If you have a problem locating the drivers post the model no and series of your Toshiba and we'll try and sort them out for you.

    Thanks I'll check out their website. Can you tell me if I have to reformat the drive before I load XP? Or will it just overwrite VISTA?
