The instructions for removing JVM and replacing w/ Sun Java are for XP-can I use same instructions for W98SE? If not, do you have instructions I can use or is it not an issue with SE....? Thanks!

I personally have never seen the need to remove MSJVM. I have both Sun and MSJVM in a Win98 and a WinXP machine and don't have any problems with them. If you prefer to use one over the other, check the one you want to use at Tools>IE Options>Advanced tab.

I agree with noahdfear about the need to uninstall it.
But if you really want to:

    1) Go to Start > Run and type:
    rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection java.inf,UnInstall
(no spaces except after rundll32 and Section).

    2) Click OK.

    3) Ignore the bogus warning about not ever being able to download files again.

    4) Remove the Java folder in Windows or Winnt.

    5) Remove the java.inf file (if present) from Windows\Inf or Winnt\Inf folder.

    6) Remove java.pnf from the same folder (if present).

    7) Search for and delete any instances of javavm.dll.

I have both, too, and no problems. They do not fight with each other. If I could make that claim about the children, I'd be pleased!
