Uninstalled McAfee - lots of problems now

Hi, Need lots of help. Problems started when I couldn't access Windows Update. MS tech said my McAfee Security was the problem, so I uninstalled using Add/Remove. WinUpdate still didn't work, so I downloaded the Suite again from Comcast but the Anti Virus didn't install. Several times I reinstalled entire program both over the installed one and then uninstalling and reinstalling and still no Anti Virus. So I decided to try System Restore and at least I'd have the virus protection. Well, after I clicked on the date to go back to nothing happened. Tried several times, same thing. Next problem is in IE7 -- web pages are blank and the message body in emails are empty. Also System Restore page is now blank. Active x and java script are not working although they are enabled in IE tools. Don't know how to fix. Next, there are several "alerts" in Event Viewer. 1. ASP.net failed. 2. Several WMI namespace violations. Just don't know what to do to fix these problems. Have print screen shots of event viewer. Called McAfee and they said they were Microsoft/windows issues. Your expertise is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

 

Have a look at this. I don't know if it's the answer to all of your problems but it may fix some of them. It may well be the answer for your IE, system restore and email problems though.

Thanks for your reply. After I posted I decided to check on the services running and changed a few to auto and started them if they seemed appropriate. I also ran McAfee's removal tool (which I read about in one of the posts) which removed some of the remnants but failed to remove all. Again restarted computer, checked email in IE7 and system restore pages and everything was there! Active X was also enabled. I downloaded McAfee again but the AntiVirus still won't install. Ran the Virtual Tech which fixed some problems but for the 2 it couldn't fix I'll contact their support. I was really stuck and appreciate your interest and the info I got on the board. All this started because I can't get on Windows Update and still have this problem but that's for another time. Thanks again. Have a great day.
