Is it 'safe' to uninstall Windows Messenger from XP ? I don't use it and it really annoys me, especially since I networked 2 PC's.

I got the method by searching the posts, but does it create any problems?

Some people have reported not being able to access Hotmail or other secure sites after uninstalling the messenger. It appears to add another level of authentication to these sites.

The messenger should not come up unless you start it if the options are set that way. Mine appears in the tray when accessing secure Passport sites, but does not sign on and disappears when leaving those sites.

It will not appear when you open OE unless you have your Contacts list open.

It is a replacement for Netmeeting and has very good audio/video capabilities.

OK. The sales pitch is over. You can always reinstall it later in any case.
