IE/OE cannot be removed from XP without removing the OS as well.

    Hi.

To kill Outlook Express, go to the "Program Files" directory and rename the "Outlook Express" directory to "XOutlook Express" and reboot. Outlook Express will be dead. You might have to boot from a floppy and do it in DOS but probably not. In Win2K and XP the system will probably install another directory named "Outlook Express" but it will be empty and won't do anything.

I also do this to the Messenger , MSN gaming zone, and netmeeting directories. Stops all of them. System runs great.

Newt is right, you can't uninstall them because quite a bit of their setup is installed in Windows\System32 and other parts of the operating system and are used by other processes but this will effectively kill the main program use. Whenever you do updates just check and see if anything was installed in the empty directories, if so, rename them again and use another letter, etc.
