Over the past month, kids HP/xp Home/sp2 computer (2 user profiles, myself has admin rights - they do not) will not release firefox.exe when closing program. When this occurs and they try reloading, an additional firefox.exe will be added to processes... eventually locking up computer. I have copied off bookmarks for myself and kids profiles. Went to my admin account, opened "Add / Remove programs" and Mozilla nor Firefox show up in listing. Did a properties check from Firefox short cut and program resides in default location, but could not find any type of "uninstall" routine in folder. Would like to do a complete uninstall (program and all profiles) registry cleaning and reinstall in a clean environment, but can not locate uninstall executable.
    thanks

    Dennis ...

    Thanks for the info.

FYI, uninstalling any program, whether it be from a shortcut icon or from Add/Remove, leaves behind a large number of Registry entries. Those that reside in memory can be removed by rebooting, but the majority can be removed only with a Registry cleaner, such as the free RegSeeker.

It's always a good idea to clean the Registry of references to a program after you uninstall it, especially if you intend to reinstall it.

Could not have said it better myself :) :D
After uninstall, 2 passes with CCleaner for general cleanup, 3 passes with RegSeeker rooting out Firefox and Mozilla search phrases. So far firefox.exe has been closing properly. Still tracking down a few other problems.
