For some reason I cannot view flash videos on
    http://abcnews.go.com/

I have tried using Internet Explorer 7, Firefox, and even Opera and Safari. Same result: Just a big Black box where the video should be. Not even the arrow which usually shows to display a video.

I can see flash videos on other sites but not this site.
Using adobe flash player 10, Latest versions of all browsers. I even temporarily turned off my Norton firewall and antivirus checker, as well as temporarily disabled addins for firefox.

It is probably some options setting set by IE 7 but I sure cant figure it out and am totally flummoxed..

    OS is WIN XP SP3.

It must be some setting on my PC but at this point I have no idea what.
    Anyone have any suggestions.

Example of one I can see is http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_upshot/20101025/od_yblog_upshot/horror-of-texas-tornado-caught-on-video

Both the working and non working ones use adobe flash

    Thanks, Georgia

Unlikely, because same issue exists in other browsers too. Problem could be caused by a browser add-on. Try disabling all addons in the browsers except Flash, and see if get joy.

Tony T - I had tried disabling all browser add-ons prior to posting,. Not the problem.
Also, many of the settings in IE options apply to Windows as well as the IE browser. That is why I mentioned them

Mark - tried your suggestions - no difference for the video and just got more ads then I usually see.
    Also re
I never see a yellow icon in status bar when this happens.

Also, I do see many flash videos in all my browsers - but for some reason ones on ABC News are different and wont work.

Hi Jorjab, that's a shame, I thought that solution looked quite promising. I copied it from another forum so the bit about the yellow icon, as you are not seeing it, would suggest you have a different problem. I'll see what else I can find.

Just maybe, it is something to do with a missing codec.

I found this thread, all about the exact problem you are having, it appears to be linked to the BBC putting ads on the back of videos which causes the videos to be blocked. For a couple of people just clearing out cookies did the trick. I simply don't have the time to read through it all so just hope you may find the solution somewhere in there that will work.

    re Marks last post
I have tried the suggestions here and so far no good. have tried several suggestions from the following two links and nothing here has helped.

Am still pursuing what following URLs suggest.

This makes absolutely no sense, but as of today, after several days of not being able to view flash videos on abc.com, I now can.
Since my last post indicating what I had tried, I have not made any deliberate changes which would make it work.
I have tried to view every day, to no avail, until today.
Mystery, but at least videos now work on ABC.com

Interestingly enough, I had tried viewing the flash video at the BBC web site mentioned at above link. That also did not work until today.

    Closing this thread today -

    Thanks for suggestions -

    Happy Halloween !
