When I go into Safe Mode, I'm losing the left hand side of my desktop - including the Start button and the first of my three QuickLaunch icons. My monitor is a widescreen (17 "), and it looks as if the entire desktop is "off center" - in other words, there's a 2" strip at the far right of the screen that's black. I've tried changing the resolution in Safe Mode to no avail.
Does anyone have any ideas how I might rectify this? No problems with viewing the whole desktop in Normal mode...
    Thanks!

    Desktop

Does your monitor have it's own adjustments? If so, you can adjust the screen with them and then move them back when you're out of safe mode.

Thank you!!! I'd never paid any attention to the buttons on the monitor itself.
I was only able to 'reposition' the desktop so that the offset was 1 inch rather than 2 (that was with 100% horizontal repositioning), but that was just enough to see the "rt" at the end of the Start button, and the far right side of the My Documents icon, so everything I needed was finally accessible to me.
Now if I could just solve the rest of my problem (separate thread)...
