I am running IE5.5 on Win98 and find I am NOW unable to read my favourites offline.

I have tried everything I know to correct this frustrating problem, without success.

No doubt more able folk out there can provide me with the solution I need.

    Thanks a million

What happens when you try to read them?

Did you know you can open Windows Explorer and go to C:\Windows\Favorites and see them there?

Thanks Steve for your rapid response.

When I try to view favourites offline, IE is unable to bring up the page.

As for viewing via the method you described, no I haven't done that................(this is an edit) YEP, been in there now and it makes no difference at all, the web pages WILL NOT open offline. but that is a rather cumbersome method and alternative method to the normal method I use of Start/Favourites.

Seems I am missing something to lock in the pages that are added as "favourites and ticked for offline viewing.

Went searching for the answer to my problem, but found this posting. I have this same problem:- despite marking a favorite entry "make available offline" it is not!

It appears to be from one perspective - IE6 (in my case; and I'm running it on Windows 2000 Professional) shows grayed out pages for those not marked "make available offline ". Those I've marked "available offline" are not grayed out. And I have ensured that "Synchronise" has been run prior to going offline.

Yet when I try to open it with "work offline" ticked, it says "not available offline, want to connect (or stay offline)? ", and will only view the page when I press connect.

So if someone can help roy66, I'll be helped too!

One possible cause could be that these days Web sites have a lot of dynamic content, so bringing up a page off-line would nearly always result in a request for parts of the page to the Web server.....

Thanks guys for your time and effort.

Everything is running OK now in that area...but it has cost me a defrag.

Big price to pay....trust you can sort it out without resorting to such drastic measures.

Please keep me posted if you come up with "THE" solution.

    Have a good weekend.
