Unable to print from the Internet

I have used computers for several years and have sorted out a few problems over the years, but for this problem I need help.
I have a newish dual core desktop computer running xp pro and I access the internet with AOL 9.
The problem is I can not print any of my emails or anything else which is on the internet. when I click on the print link, or right click on an email, or a web page nothing happens, no print window pops up,the request to print is totally ignored, the attempt to print does not affect the computer in any way. I can print any file or picture I want off the computer itself with no problems using my canon or lexmark printer.
