If I try to open a file directly from the Internet, (such as a .zip file that I click on and try to open up directly via a HTML link) I get a file not found error. I am using Internet Explorer as you might expect.

I think what is happening is this:

    1) The file is downloaded from the 'net as you would
expect to a Windows temporary directory.
    2) The temporary file is deleted before the application
gets a chance to open it. The application comes
back with an error message saying the file
    can not be found.

I've been reduced to downloading the files to a temp. directory I have created and then opening the files from there.

Is there a way to fix this problem?

    Thanks,

    -Art

You should be able to open it as you describe. Don't really know what your problem would be however. What program do you use to open zip files? From your post it sounds like the zip program opens and it can't find the file. Is this correct?

If using winzip then make sure you have installed the winzip browser support plugin.

Don't you have to create a file association in the 'Folder Options" so that Windows will know what program to use to open .zip files?

If the zip program opens and gives the error then the association is there and there must be something else wrong. We really need to know whether or not this is the case.
