I'll try to keep this brief....

I'm working with an XP (SP2) workstation within a 2003 Domain.

The problem is the computer account was deleted from the Active Directory, before changing the Computer name on the PC.

After adding the computer's name back to the Active Directory, the Server will not allow the computer access to the domain. I'm sure this is due to a non-matching SID and/or another security policy/property.

Without re-installing XP on the computer, is there any way I can either change the Computer name remotely, change the SID, or login through some back door that I don't know about to remedy this issue?

Also - I cannot login locally to the PC due to the fact that the password is not known at this time. I do not have a password reset disk either. I think I'm hosed!
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Dave

Google, download, and burn the UBCD for windows it has a offline password changing program on it and since you boot to the cd you won't need a windows password.

I don't think the sid changes if you don't uninstall windows. The only way I know of to fix this is through trial and error so I can't tell you a specific fix....sorry.

I can suggest, trying to remove the computer from the domain by moving it to a workgroup. Removing the account you have created on the server. Then try to add the computer to the domain from the computer itself.

Have you tried logging into the PC as domain admin?
