    From http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

I try to download and install Image Resizer from above site. The download seems to proceed properly and icon is placed on desktop. However, when I click on this icon to use the utility, it starts the install all over and this would go on endlessly so far as I can tell.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this same problem and how they worked around it.

I suspect you have downloaded the installation file to your desk top - there is no desktop icon for this applet, just a new item in the right click menu when you highlight an image file.
    Works just fine :)

I think Pete's right.....several of those PowerToys have no desktop icons or entries on the Start menu, and MS doesn't always make that clear.

Since this is a Powertoys discussion, I think I'll hijack it with my recent problem. :) While trying to install TweakUI on XP Pro, got a message about missing or not found GetHelpLoaderDll or something similar. What's missing?

Noah.... "something similar" won't help solve your problem. Whatever it is, try Googling it.

Well chrisw, had I written it down so that I knew the exact missing or not found component, it would have been Googled long before I even thought about asking.
Someone here might surprise you. ;) Thanks for your input just the same.

Get Arie's app. Costs a couple of bucks but worth it.

One question here if I may, this Power Toy Image re-sizer is that the same or a different version of the one that comes standard with XP by clicking on the Image or the folder with images and using the Image resizer in the left hand pane.

You've lost me there :) - I can't find the Image Resizer you refer to in either Luna or Classic views. Care to enlighten me?

However, as the Image Resizer referred to in this thread is part of XP Powertoys it is an improvement to or addition to the facility offered in XP - which hardly answers your question :D

    Hi Pete,
I think I may have mislead you a bit here, the resizer I am referring to is the one that XP provides for when you pick out photos to send by e-mail, but non the less it is a great working resizer, but only when you are e-mailing them out.
For anyone that hasen't used this feature I highly recomend it. It greatly helps the person on the receiving end.
I have created a Folder in my Pictures called Mail Folder and anytime I am about to send 1 or more Photos the ones I pick I send to that Folder click on it and go to the Pane on the left side
    E-mail this Folder's Files
    Send Pictures via E-mail
    make all my pictures smaller
    Show more options
    Make my pictures this size
    1. small (fits in a 640X480 window)
    2. medium (fits in a 800X600 window)
    3. large (fits in a 1024X768 window)
pick the one you want and click on it and they are placed as a attachment in your e-mail.
I personally whish my friends and Familie would use this feature instead of sending me photos that big they take ages to download.
    hope this will help someone

dobhar, no that is not what I mean sorry. If you click on a picture (single click) that you have saved in my doc's or my pic's you will see on the far left in the
    File & Folder Task
    E-mail this folder's files
    follow it through

Appears to do the same with a few additional options - works from any folder using the right click menu.

    Tweaking Toolbox.

I did stop back in this morning to get the actual error message. It is as follows.

    Entry point not found
The procedure entry point GetDllDirectoryW could not be located in the dynamic link library Kernel32.dll

The cause of the error? XP must have Service Pack 1 to use PowerToys for XP.

HaHaHa....HeHeHe! I hadn't gotten to updating that machine yet. Did the other three on the network, got the network communicating and put in TweakUI to bypass the logon. It being the only XP machine and the one with an internet connection, I figured it would have been at least close to being up-to-date. That's what I get for figuring! BTW, not good for me to try recalling an error message from memory. I was way off.

Actually they both use the same process...When you open a picture with WinXP's Windows Picture and Fax Viewer then select the "E-Mail" button it uses the same process as the Folder option you where talking about. You can also resize the picture by right-clicking on the pic and selecting "Resize pictures ". You have a few options here...

Okay, I see how you are reducing the size of the pics, Hawk, but do you have to email them back to yourself? I don't see any way to "save" the new sized pic?? Or am I just missing something? The PowerToys Image Resizer works almost the same, but you DO get the option to save, and you don't HAVE to email anything to resize a pic. Maybe I am misunderstanding something?? (oh, it wouldn't be the first time...sigh...)
