Unable to install Catalyst Drivers

Upon booting up my machine today, my X850PE driver was not functioning. I uninstalled physically and in Device manager. I used Driver Cleaner to clean out the ATI Drivers.
Upon attempting to reinstall the card, Windows XP SP2 would not accept the Catalyst Driver until I have installed the Standard VGA Adaptor.

This is a fairly common problem but I can't seem to find a way to do get the SVGA driver installed. I find lots of references to the issue but no clear cut solutions. I can't even download the SVGA adaptor on the Net.

Any ideas?

Hi ... I'm not positive but can't you get the standard VGA from windows update site ? Have you try to perform a scan from there ? Another thing why aren't you uninstalling whatever from within the windows add and remove programs area ?

I used to have problems with Cat drivers from the ATI site but have not had any problems d/l drivers from Omega:

I think your experience will be better from here than the official ATI site.
