Unable to go to program help sites

When I click on help on the toolbar at the top of Internet Explorer, then click on contents and index a new window opens with the index of help topics. However, the right side panel where the information should be contains this message - "Action Cancelled -- Internet explorer was unable to link to the web page you requested. The page might be temporarily unavailable "
This happens on every program or application I use. I am not sure if this is a security thing with sp2 or if I have shut off some service that I need to get to the help sites.
This has been going on for a long time and is not associated with anything new that I have downloaded.

Thank you for the help, I did as you suggested and received the succeeded message; unfortunately it did not work. I still get the same message when I click on help.

Marty525--Problems running Windows' own Help files are often solved by running a new download of htmlhelp.exe, which is available here

Perhaps Arie will comment if that could help your problem with third party Help files.

Marty525--Glad to hear the good news. What was the fix?

 

The fix was the link from Arie which showed several workarounds for the two security update. It involved registry changes.
Nice to know there are people out there always willing to help
