I have a Toshiba Satellite L455D laptop with Windows 7 OS. The computer is about two months old. Since day one, I have not been able to download much of anything. The downloads start, and after one or two minutes it just stops. The popup looks like it's still loading except for the statistics not moving. If left for an extended time, it will show a complete download, but when trying to start the program, I get a popup saying the download was either incomplete or corrupted. If the download popup has a pause button on it, I can pause & restart until I get it. If not, it won't happen.

Playing videos is the same story. Videos will only load partially then stop. My wifes 2 1/2 year old Acer Aspire with Windows Vista Home Basic runs circles around mine with none of these problems.

Is this a Toshiba problem or a Windows 7 problem? I've tried all the adjustments & fixes I know including turning off all firewalls & antivirus programs, same results.

    Any suggestions?

Have a look here: Dropped internet connection. This is on BBS opening page. May help to search your problem. Neil.

Thanks, Neil, but the internet connection never drops. My wife's 2 1/2 year old Acer Aspire works perfectly off the same wireless router. The only thing I can think of that might be the problem is either software Toshiba pre-installed on the computer or Windows 7. I have been through the Control Panel with every setting imaginable, no change. I have run virus scans, malware & spyware scans, and even had my anti-virus program run a boot scan. Still, no difference. If there's no pause button on the pop-up for the program I am trying to download where I can hit pause-resume-pause-resume repeatedly, then the download stops just a couple of minutes into it. No popup windows or any other indication there's a problem with the download. If I leave it long enough, it will show the download completed, but when I attempt to open the program, it won't due to incomplete download.

Are you using a download accelerator? If so try disabling it.

Uninstall any security type software you have, see if that makes a difference.

I went to Uninstall programs, didn't see any security type programs there.

I have Avast anti-virus. I thought you were referring to other programs that may have come with the computer. Before I downloaded Avast, I had Norton that came already installed. I turned off everything on Norton, all the firewalls, everything that could be turned off was. No difference. Norton is now uninstalled after the 30-day trial expired.

I'd start by running the Norton Removal Tool. If that didn't work I'd look at a clean install.
