Have tried to do a search in this forum but the first word no matter what I put in comes up with either too long, too short, or to common. Not understanding this at all.

So here is the problem. Windows ME dial-up icon is gone and am unable to create a new one. Does not want to finish the function no matter how long you wait. Have checked file structure, for spywares, for virus's nothing found. Have done diags on the hardware and all appears okay.

Has anyone seen this with ME. Not my machine cuz I sure wouldnt have ME on anything.

gghartman---What email program are you using?
In Outlook Express, it is fairly easy to create an account with your email supplier. OETools|Accounts|Add|Mail and you will get a Wizard. The only problems you might have is knowing what to enter in the Outgoing and Incoming Mail lines on the Servers tab. Your email supplier (ISP?) will have to tell you that, unless you already know it.
So maybe forget trying to fix the old account. Again using OE, you generally do not click on the Dialup connection Icon (though that will eventually work), but rather on the OE icon to start up.

Even going the way you described which I have vast knowledge in it still has to create a dial-up connection and that connection will display in the dial-up folder for me. It wasnt even doing that. After messing with the computer and not being able to even use the system restore function scanreg did find problems and fortunately did fix it. Hard drive is on the way out is making lots of noise so my guess at this point is the drive is causing some problems with the op system.

    Thanks for input.
