My desktop PC got really slow (25 minutes to boot) after a bad virus attack which I was unable to clear up. So I formatted the disk and reinstalled windows XP pro. I then installed the driver for mu wireless card which gave me its icon on the tool bar, a message then pops up saying Wireless networks detected, I click on that and a box pops up saying it has detected my BTHomeHumb router but when I click on connect it says "Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. the network may no longer be in range." Although signal strength is fine. I,m using my laptop to send this message and it is using the wireless network fine. All was ok on the desktop with the network connection before I had to reinstall Windows.
    Any help please.
    Regards Paul

I have sorted out the problem by downloading the latest drivers from the manufacurer rather than use the one that came with the wireless card. I must have done this when I first installed it with XP
