    I had an attack of viruses on my computer , after removing & cleaning evrything it's seemes that the computer is clean & working fine , the only problem left is the subject , when trieng to enable firewall I receive a massage
    Code:
    Security center could not turn on firewall

    when trieng to do it from control panel & windows firewall I get another massage
    Code:
    Due to an unidentified problem , windows can't display firewall settings

    Maybe someone have an idea how to solve this problem.

    Code:
    sfc /scannow
    and OK.

    Go to Start > Run and type services.msc in the run box, click ok. Check to see if the service Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) is set to automatic and its status is "Running ".

    This service is needed.

    Security service

    1. Start -> Run: "regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\hnetcfg.dll "
    2. Restart the Security Center service.

    This problem crops up if this dll is not registered.

    There were feedback's , meentime I decided to re-install XP (hopefully last time :) becase who knows what else went wrong & I m doing mass work in my computer. This problem was caused by a virus & I assume there were other invisible problem that can popup later during work on the computer.

    This worked for me when my firewall would not start.
    At a command prompt: netsh winsock reset
    Reboot.
