    I recently upgraded from Windows XP3 to Vista Ultimate SP1 and I observe that I am unable to access http://www.payeasy.lk/. I get the following error page;

The website cannot display the page
    HTTP 500
    Most likely causes:
    The website is under maintenance.
The website has a programming error.

What you can try: Refresh the page.

Go back to the previous page.

    More information

This error (HTTP 500 Internal Server Error) means that the website you are visiting had a server problem which prevented the webpage from displaying.

For more information about HTTP errors, see Help.

I have been successfull in getting access to this website with another PC running on Windows XP and with the common ADSL gateway.

I have allowed http://www.payeasy.lk/ in IE7 security settings but I still get blocked. However with Google Chrome I am able to access the website and process my work sans any issues, which makes me believe that some IE7 settings is blocking the website. I am able to successfully access other trusted sites via IE7

Can anyone tell me how to get around this problem?

    Thanks

    Two suggestions .....

Start IE with Add-ons disabled .....

Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools - Internet Explorer (no add-ons)

Try to acces the site - if successful it is an add-on which is preventing access.....

Restart IE and disable all add-ons .....

    Tools > Internet Options > Manage Add-ons

Re-enable one at a time, testing between each until the culprit is found.

If it is not an add-on preventing access try resetting IE .....

Tools > Internet Options > Advanced - Reset.

I am afraid that did not help. I am wondering if its a "pop up" issue that IE7 is suppressing?

Delete your Temporary Internet Files & try again.

    No, it's not a pop-up issue.

After your IE reset, are you still having problems?

Its very strange!! My daughter uses Windows Vista Starter and IE7 and I was able to log in and carry out transactions using her PC. I have a feeling that some setting in my PC IE7 is blocking the log-in page. I did a RESET but that did not help either.

I am able to access via Google Chrome and Firefox3 without any problem.

    Thanks for your help

You'd probably have some 3rd party software (or the hosts file) that's blocking the site.

I'll tell you what I got to work...
Under Page>Encoding, click on Western European (Windows)

    I also unchecked Auto Select.

The default seemed to be Unicode (UTF8) whatever that is.....

    Thanks Bmoore1129,

    SUCCESS

I was finally able to resolve the problem with IE7 and Vista Ultuimate.

    This is what I did;

    Click "tools/internet options "
    Open "privacy "
Click "sites" and "allow" the URL selected.

    All works well.

Hope this information will help others with a similar issue
