I have 2 hard drives on my PC, "C" and "F ". --- D&E are DVD RW. I recently loaded Ubuntu on my C drive and it seems to run OK but with one exception - It doesn't recognize a C drive. It gives all the the right responses to D,E and F but not C. Unfortunately, most of my data files are on C so I have limited functionality.
Not a fatal problem but I would like to try and get it properly operational therefore, an y help gratefully received.

    Confusing post!

You say Ubuntu cannot recognize the C drive, yet it is installed on the C drive! If you indeed installed Ubuntu on C, and can boot Ubuntu, then it HAS to recognize the C drive cause its using it. It will show up in Nautilus File Manager as "File System ".
    It's path is this: /
The paths to other partitions and/or disks will be /media/xxx

    Ubuntu lost HD

Finally found the files on my "C" drive, they are in a directory?? called "Host ". the second HD (E) is identified as "41 GB drive ".
As a raw recruit to Linux, I found the initial attempt to navigate confusing.
