Resolved Types of DVD disc's.

Can anyone please clarify the differences between formats:

DVD+RW 1x4x compatible 4.7GB 120mins.

DVD-RW 1x2x compatible 4.7GB 120mins.

Will both formats be able to re-write information/films? and playback?

1x2 / 1x4 maximum recommended burn speed, 2x discs will burn on 4x burners but you'll need to slow the burn speed to 2x.

Will both formats work with my burner and whatever player I want to use them with?

Chances are with modern burners/player you'll be able to use either type (+RW / -RW) but older hardware may have issues. Check user guides/manuals for further information.

DVD-RW and DVD+RW are manufactured by Sony.

DVDs to be written and playback on a Compac Presario computer
and playback on a Sony player.

As previously asked, will either or both mentioned Sony DVD+RW 1x4
and Sony DVD-RW 1x2 meet my requirements?

 

Both will work on your burner but without more information about the player I can't say.
