two peculiarities of Windows Live Mail 2011 need fixing

    1. Quite often it takes a second opening of W.L.M. before received emails show their content in the BODY rather than as an attachment;
    2. Sometimes the W.L.M. display stays on the screen after closing W.L.M. It can be 'wiped' (like an eraser on a blackboard) by means of a DOS window.

    I doubt you'll get very far.... WLM is not a particular 'decent' email program.

    Maybe updating your display driver could help for #2, just maybe...

    #2 -remanence of WLM after its closed - has almost disappeared since I have replaced the video card.
