They are Microsoft Frontpage and Netmeeting. I will probably never use either program but am unable to delete them. Is there some logical reason MS wants me to keep these programs? Do they interfere with other programs therefore I have to keep them?

These programs do not show up in Add/Remove so I can't uninstall.

    Can they be safely deleted?

    Thanks.

To remove Netmeeting see here ...

    http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_n.htm

Frontpage is a full blown standalone program and would show in Add/Remove Programs if installed separately. However if it was installed as part of Office 2000 Premium (and possibly other versions of Office in which it was included) I think you will find it in Add/Remove Programs > MS Office > Change/Remove - which gives you the option of removing individual office programs.

Never a good idea to simply delete the appropriate folder.

The XP install places a folder in Program Files called microsoft frontpage (in lower case letters). This folder contaions a directory called Version3.0 and that directory has a folder called bin. bin is an empty folder. But the ms frontpage directory cannot be deleted and if try will get error message that another program is using the directory. It's locked into windows somehow.

    Hi guys

Deleted netmeeting as per Pete's link, however, the folder in program files is still there. Is this safe to delete now?

Frontpage is indeed a tough cookie to crack. I only have OpenOffice.org 1.1.0 and after going through the Add/Remove/Change I saw nothing relating to Frontpage. So I'm not sure if this is the program that Frontpage is connected with unless its built into Office as part of Office.

Yeah Tony, when I tried to delete the folder the warning message said that the folder 'bin' could not be deleted, no warning about being used by another program.

This is the reason I can't give up 98. With 98 I can have only the programs/
files that I want me to have and not someone else. :)

    Thanks guys

Just keep the frontpage folder and subfolders, they are empty anyway and any shortcuts to netmeeting or fp can be deleted from the start menu, etc.
